The main aim of the Dare Conference was to improve people skills for people who work in digital, but it ended up being so much more than that.
Over the course of 2 days, 28 people stood on stage and told stories about their work, their lives, their experiences, their challenges, their failings and the lessons they learnt. All of the talks were brand new – not recycled from other industry conferences – and had never been heard before.
After the first day, I felt like I had absorbed the knowledge of 9 entire books, I won’t go into details, because you can watch all the videos here, but listening to these talks managed to be mind-blowing whilst also being very emotional.
I spoke for 5 minutes about sexism and confidence (video coming soon!) which was an incredible experience. I got to wear a ‘Britney mike’ and felt like a celebrity at the bar afterwards as everyone knew my name and kept coming up to me and asking me questions. It was awesome.
A big thank you goes to Jonathan Khan for organising the conference and to all the volunteers who helped out on the day.
